I have never got so much free time in my lifetime, but thanks to the lock-down, I have got plenty of it right now. I did not know what to do and how to best utilize this extra time. So I searched “how to pass time” on Google and it returned one billion, six hundred and thirty million results. That’s crazy! 🙂 Finally, I found something that I want to show it to you. It’s fun.
My friend showed me a book (don’t worry, there’s nothing to read). It’s a picture book called “Where’s Waldo?”. The name of the lead character in the book is “Waldo”, as you must have guessed correctly you smarties. On each page of the book, there is a scene just like the following picture. At the end of this blog post, I will give you a link where you can download the high resolution version of this image.
The task here is to find 2 characters and 1 item (based on different local versions of the book, there can be a few other characters as well).
This is Waldo. In different local versions, he’s also called “Wally“. So this Waldo goes to a number of places, which are shown on different pages of the book which are called “scenes”. In every scene, your first task is to find Waldo.
This character is Wizard Whitebeard (Note that his name is White Beard, but I always read it as White Bread, don’t know why. May be it’s my affection towards bread). Anyways, wherever Waldo goes, Whitebeard follows him. So, your next job is the find this Wizard.
The final task is to find this scroll. It is the most difficult part of the task and it really requires patience, concentration and an eye to spot things in a crowd. However, it’s not impossible to find one. With some efforts, you will be able to find it, if you don’t give up too quickly.
I have given a link at the end of this blog post to download the high resolution image of a scene to try it yourself.
I feel that this game is a metaphor for life. We are also surrounded by too many things and we always look for a few things that we wish we could find for ourselves.
As in a scene, Woldo and Whitebeard are comparatively easy to find, there are things in our lives which are relatively easy to find, like good restaurants to dine in, birthday gifts for your loved ones, first-day first-show movie tickets, a car with all required features within your budget, the list is endless.
But more important things in life like finding real happiness, true love, inner peace, excellent health and an ample of wealth are more difficult to find and preserve. But when you find those, you get the sense of achievement. But as I said earlier, you will only find those if you have patience, perseverance, and the the most important thing – “if you don’t give up too quickly”.
Ok, here’s the high resolution image of the “The Gobbling Gluttons” scene that I promised you earlier. Download it, find Waldo, Wizard Whitebeard & Scroll, and let me know in the comments below when you find them. Enjoy!
